Facebook launched Collab music app, to take on TikTok

Facebook being a powerful social media platform, has launched the Tik-Tok type of application called “Collab”. Facebook is a website that allows users, who sign-up for free profiles, to connect with friends, work colleagues, or people they don’t know online. It allows users to share pictures, music, videos, and articles, and their own thoughts and opinions with, however, many people they like.

Facebook has officially announced its Collab app, which the social media platform previously launched as an experiment. In the month of May 2020, Facebook began to test the Collab application based on invite-only BETA.

Announcing Collab’s public availability, Facebook’s NPE team said that they had worked closely with the beta test community to make updates to the creation, sharing, and discovery of new collabs. Audio syncing is one of the improvements that will help users adjust their recordings to be aligned with others in the Collab.

It is said that with the launch of Collab, Facebook wants to take on the likes of TikTok, one of the most popular short video apps available worldwide. Collab allows users to create short music videos by combining up to three independent videos, Just as TikTok,

While the idea behind Collab is similar to TikTok, there are some differences as well. The app will allow users to club three different videos together and post individual videos on the platform. These videos will be visible to a public “Collab” feed where users can view and play along with them.

“Collab automates the complexity of audio and video syncing so you can easily produce a final composition you love,” the Facebook NPE team said. The social media giant also said that no musical training or experience is required to use the app. To create a collab, you’re required to swipe on any row to bring in a new video clip that could sound good with your composition.

According to The Verge, the Collab app is available for free on the Apple App Store and can be downloaded. It is available on Google Playstore, too. On that note, interested people must understand that the app is still not available in India, neither on the Apple App store nor on the Google Play store.

Several short Video Platforms have been developed in India after the Ban of the Tik-Tok app. India banned The TikTok app earlier this year, and it is still not available in the country. There were words to ban the app in the United States as well on account of security and privacy issues.

Recently, we have seen Facebook launched Instagram Reels in India alongside a few other markets to take on the likes of TikTok. Reels has gained wide popularity in the country and partly been able to replace TikTok. Notably, Reels is a part of the main Instagram app and is not a separate application.
