Intel’s New SSD is capable of storing 300,000 HD movies
Hard drives are in the market from decades, and they are offering the efficient service to the consumers. But, soon the hard drives will be replaced by the SSD in the form of technology advancement. Intel, one of the renowned technology company, has launched the SSD which is capable of storing 300,000 HD movies.
If the hard drives are not replaced with SSD, then it is just because of the question about their storage capacity and the price. Intel was struggling from many years to overcome the limitation of hard drives by creating a rule-shaped SSD disk, which can store 1 Petabyte data. 1 Petabyte data is equal to 1000 Terabytes data or 1,000,000 gigabytes of data. 1 Petabyte data is almost equal to 300,000 hours of HD video, which will take almost 70 years for a person to watch the videos completely.
Intel has created this SSD with the new format rule of the SSD disk format, so this is not available for the direct consumers. You cannot find this SSD in the stores; it is available only at the data centers of Internet providers. The average cost of the 1 TB SSD was $358, so imagine how much 1000 TB SSD would cost.
Advantages of the SSD
The SSD drives are faster than the hard drives; they heat up less and work quietly than the hard drives. The SSD drives have less capacity than hard drives, and they are expensive than the conventional hard drives.
The data centers which are capable are using the hundreds and thousands of servers to store the web pages, and the other content from the Internet providers relies on the hard drives. The hard drives have more capacity than the SSD, and they are much cheaper than the SSDs.
Intel was working on this limitation of the SSD, and they have overcome this limitation by launching the new SSD with the Regla format. This SSD can store up to 1 Petabyte data, which is also equal to the 1000 Terabytes data. The data can be stored in the single rack or the storage connector. The new SSD is built using the NAND chips, and it has no moving parts. So, you just have to keep the SSD in the row to increase storage which is the new format rule used by Intel in this SSD.
Intel has not revealed the other information of this SSD like the length of the SSD, the type of the connection established with the server and the price. Also, we do not know that this format rule can be applied to the Intel 3D NAND SSD and to Intel Optane Technologies or not. But, this 1000 TB SSD will be available in the market very soon.
Till then, you can wait for this new SSD by Intel and can work on the conventional hard drives which you were using till now to store the larger web content on the servers. But, once this SSD is launched then it will be easy for the people to store 300,000 HD movies.
