Google’s new reCAPTCHA can now work with just one click

It is not new issue when we are running less in time and those nasty CAPTCHA codes by certain websites adds to our trouble by giving us strange molded, folded letters and numbers at the time we are creating a user account, then we need to type those symbols in plain text so we can prove that we are not deployed bots. Well, if you are also the one who are sick of those annoying codes, time to cheer up folks!

For the ease of mass and convenience, Google introduced a new method for conformation called reCAPTCHA, making it a lot easier as you need to check mark a single box and you’re done.

It has been difficult for some users as they need to figure out the exact letter, symbol, etc. and at certain time it proves as huge time loss in case you typed a wrong character.

CAPTCHA – “Completely Automated Pubic Turing test to tell Computer and Human Apart”.

CAPTCHA code

This is used by websites to verify that you are a Human, not any computer controlled machine/robot. This also puts various restrictions on several programs like sign up emails, cracking passwords, spamming, etc.

Now, according to the news, we’ll have this new algo – “no CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA”, in which you’ll be provided with just a single check box with the label aside – “I’m not a Robot”.

This has to be brought in existence because in the result by a test conducted by Google, it showed that sophisticated computer programs could easily crack typical CAPTCHA code 99.8 percent of time. And this shows that it has been broken a long time ago and most spammers are happy that they can run their scripts, in hope that one out of ten will pass through the restriction.

While the new CAPTCHA API may sound simple, there is a high degree of sophistication behind that modest checkbox,” as per Google’s blog post. “CATPCHAs have long relied on the inability of Robots to read distorted text. However, our search recently showed that today’s Artificial Intelligence technology can solve even the most difficult variant of distorted text at 99.8 percent accuracy. Thus distorted text, o its own, is no longer a dependable text.”

So, keeping this under consideration, Google is rolling out the next generation CAPTCHA, which is a new level of testing the user.

You will counter a checkbox, which need to be filled with a mouse click. For mobile devices, a tap is required.

Now, here’s where Google played its part. After checking the box, the API will decide whether it is happy with your answer or not. If yes, then you are good to go. But, if not, you will be presented with the CAPTCHA code for passing through.

So what we conclude is:

  1. No CAPTCHA = Asking for your conformation.
  2. reCAPTCHA = CAPTCHA

The system will use image recognition as for fooling controlled bots. For eg. You will be presented with an image of an animal in one side of box, and in the other side, there will be more animals of different and same class. The best one for explain this is cat. Humans can easily recognize various types of cats, while a robot can’t.

reCAPTCHA code

“No-CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA” is a powerful back-end algorithm, says Google and the company is urging several other sites that uses CAPTCHAs to switch over to this newer version.

As of now, many sites like Snapchat, WordPress and Humble Bundle have begun deploying the new No CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA for their services. And keeping in mind Google’s reach, this upgrading might be used by a number of sites in coming months. Plus, there will be no restriction in using the older version CAPTCHA, they will work as they did.
