Inclusivity has many different meanings in many spheres of human life. Most people use the word inclusivity in a political and societal context in relation to groups of people. But what many don’t know is that the word inclusivity has a long and storied history in the domain of UX design. In short, inclusivity in the realm of web development refers to making sure that all users feel safe and included on any page of a website, whether it be the login screen, the home page, or the search bar.

Inclusive Design and Accessibility Design Practices

Many experts in the web design industry often make the association between the inclusivity of users and accessibility on the site in question. This association makes perfect sense as users will not feel a sense of exclusion if websites are not easily accessible, and the UIs are not friendly and easy to use. Therefore, accessibility in this sense refers to the way in which products and websites are designed, optimized, and serviced for people who are going to be accessing the digital platform in question. Therefore, many companies are designing their websites with accessibility in mind to spur an inclusive experience for all users. This has always been at the heart of UX design. But now, this trend is starting to pick up steam.

    Imagery An Important Element Online

One of the most common methods that allow for the development of a website that increases inclusivity and accessibility is the insertion of images, as not everyone speaks the same language. Images can create a narrative and understanding for all users, regardless of language, thereby increasing accessibility. PSD to HTML is often used by web developers and designers in instances such as this. PSD to HTML conversion is a useful method for adding interactive features to elements like static image files, which can thereby increase accessibility and inclusivity even further.

    Voice Interfacing Drives Accessibility

Another good practice that web designers can start incorporating into the development phase to improve inclusivity is the inclusion of voice interfaces into the design of the website. This is a complicated and complex matter for many web developers, but it may be exactly what is needed to improve accessibility to the site for all users. Inspiration could be taken from the way in which Apple (Siri) and Google (Google Assistant) are used in all products developed by these companies.

    An Online Option For Everyone

There are many trends that may be implemented by UX design companies to increase traffic, accessibility, and general interactions with their websites. One of the lesser-used trends is a focus on inclusivity, but the potential that this trend offers is massive. Improving accessibility and making all users feel included in the minds of the UX designers is a great way to improve customer loyalty and retention on the site in question. In the future, inclusion and accessibility are going to become even more important, and developers who begin incorporating elements of this into their designs now will be a step ahead.
