With only 2 weeks since launch, Lost Ark managed to make it to the top of the charts as the most played game on the steam of all time. Now, with over 1.4 million concurrent players Lost Ark has brought an unstoppable storm of excitement and a punch to the current gaming industry. Developed by Smilegate RPG, Lost Ark is a Korean MMO that debuted in 2018 and was brought to the west via a partnership with Amazon Games.
The game is not exactly new but was launched to the rest of the world recently by Amazon Games. After its release it has already amassed over 200,000 views on twitch, beating top dogs like Dota, Valorant, and CSGO. But what is the Lost Ark?

What is Lost Ark?
Lost Ark is a free-to-play MMO Game. It’s an isometric, top-down action RPG. It is set in the world of Arkesia, filled with wonders and wildly underdressed female models and a game chat filled with spam from gold farmers. Lost Ark is mindless fun.
It has a character creator with a wide range of character customizations options. The game offers 15 classes each with its own strengths, quirks, and special powers to make sure you are immersed in the magical madness and don’t feel unsatisfied. The characters can be leveled up with XP and loot obtained by killing monsters and treasures scattered around the world of Arkesia.
Combat experience
The combat experience is decent. You start strong with a wide range of available skills and abilities. Sometimes you overpower enemies with a simple click of a button pulverizing them into loot and XP, and sometimes enemies outnumber you 20-to-1 and you skillfully outwit them nearly avoiding death. The system is complicated and you constantly experience information overload with an overwhelming number of systems and bars to keep track of. The gameplay is grindy and repetitive after some time.
It’s beginner-friendly and allows you to grow faster through systems like shared XP and loot making it possible to leech off some High-level players. Once you reach Lv 50, more gameplay opportunities open up allowing you to experience dungeons, take part in raids, and special quests tied to the story. If you need something to do for an hour or two and nothing else seems to interesting enough, then try Lost Ark now.
Then why is it so popular?
Well, it’s nostalgia. It seems gamers play this game not for the story but as a plug to their heats left by some old popular games. People who use to play Diablo, WoW, and other similar games are finally getting to experience what they aren’t able to anymore.
