Kodak Instamatic- Kodak’s First Android Smartphone

Kodak Enters the Smartphone Market with Kodak Instamatic 2014

The renowned imaging technology organization, Kodak, is venturing into the smartphone market. Kodak, a camera-making company that recently emerged from bankruptcy, has announced its plans to launch a new range of Android smartphones featuring best-in-class image management features and software. The smartphone is named Kodak Instamatic 2014. Kodak will not be building the smartphone alone but has partnered with Britain-based Bullitt to handle the development work. The first smartphone is set to launch at the CES 2015 event in Las Vegas, with other Android-powered devices, including a 4G handset, a tablet, and a connected camera, arriving during the second half of 2015.

Targeting User-Friendly High-End Experience

The producer of Kodak says the smartphones are aimed at consumers who want a high-end experience but are uncomfortable with complicated gadgets. The company promises an “exceptional design and UI”. Kodak has collaborated with British firm Bullitt, which will manufacture the smartphone components. While details on the Kodak Android smartphones’ design and specifications are scarce, it is clear the focus of the handset will be the camera and imaging capabilities. The new smartphones and tablets will come preloaded with bespoke image capture, management, and sharing features to offer a rich user experience.

Camera-Focused Android Smartphones

The devices will also feature remote management software to guide relatives and friends through various functions. With the launch of this camera-focused Android smartphone, Kodak looks set to join Samsung (with its Galaxy S4 Zoom and Galaxy K zoom) and Panasonic, which launched its Android-powered camera phone, the Lumix DMC-CM1, in September. Other camera manufacturers, including Nikon, have previously launched Android-based cameras. The CEO of Bullitt states that Kodak is one of the world’s most recognizable brands, trusted by consumers for its quality and innovation.

Key Features of Kodak Instamatic 2014

  • Powerful camera & smartphone
  • HD movies with a true vintage look
  • Full-featured Android phone
  • Customized Instamatic interface
  • 14MP camera with zoom lens

Delivering Simplicity Without Compromise

Kodak Instamatic aims to address a segment of the smartphone market that has been poorly served to date. By providing users with easy access to printing and sharing services, while still offering the latest Android OS and features found in high-end smartphones, the devices will appeal to a large audience that values stylish design as much as functionality. It has been a while since the Kodak name was associated with a smartphone. We will be covering CES live from Las Vegas, so be sure to tune in for more on this subject. The Bullitt Company is committed to delivering a range of products that embrace the quality and innovation that the Kodak brand is known for worldwide.
