5 Best PC Games of All Time Every Gamer Must Try Once

If you’re a gamer and belong to PC Master Race then chances are you have played most of these games at least once in your life. We have compiled a list of Top 5 games from the early 2000s to the current year 2018. All your favorite classics from ages to graphically demanding games of the present.

Top 5 PC Games every gamer must try

Remember, this is a list from the guys at Technotification and recommended by us, which doesn’t mean the games you like or prefer are any less likely to be played(Criticism and Suggestions are welcome). Let’s dive into the list and in no particular order here are the 5 PC games you must play before you respawn.1

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag

OK, I’ve come too far in the future with this title! If you’re an Assassin’s Creed franchise fan then I’m 100% sure you have played this gorgeous game multiple times. Released on October 29, 2013, the game is the 6th installment in Assassin’s Creed franchise.

Unlike previous games, this one focussed on pirates, oceans and ship-based open world exploration and of course combat. With Edward Kenway as a lead character in the game, the game dives into the extraordinarily beautiful sceneries with a great storyline to tell for ages. British Navy and Pirate Ships combat was probably the most intense feature of this game. The game received an overwhelming response and also became one of the Bestselling Game of 2013(Couldn’t agree more).

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

Turning the clock back to 2004, what a great year to be alive. Rockstar released this masterpiece in October 26th of 2004 for PlayStation 2 platform initially and to the rest by October 2005. This game is significant in the gaming industry, that it’s considered to be one of the greatest game ever to be made. It was the game the world didn’t need but deserved. I mean all titles that followed with Open world maps, soundtracks, radio stations and all other stuff were nothing compared to what the Groove Street had to offer back in 2004.

The single-player story follows Carl “CJ” Johnson, who returns home to Los Santos from Liberty City after his mother’s murder. Carl finds his old friends and family in disarray, and over the course of the game he attempts to re-establish his old gang, clashes with corrupt cops, and gradually unravels the truth behind his mother’s murder. The plot is based on multiple real-life events in Los Angeles, including the rivalry between the Bloods, Crips, and Hispanic street gangs, the 1980s crack epidemic, the LAPD Rampart scandal, and the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Of course you can read more about it on Wikipedia. The game also brought in modding along with it. From cars to people to stunt ramps and what not. The game became an instant hit and everyone loved it and still play it.

Counter-Strike 1.6

cs .

FPS, great maps, low hardware requirement and lots of memories playing in the hostel are the very elements as to why people still play this game. Released back when most of you readers were still sipping on your bottle of milk (November 9, 2000, to be exact) the game was an instant hit. Originally released as a Mod for Half-life, the game took over the world by storm. The game lacked maps and content but had the core FPS value and CT vs T sorted out during beta. The community dived in and created many more maps and game was suddenly one of the most played games concurrently. I really don’t have to speak much about the game because you all have played it at least once in your life. And if you haven’t, what the hell are you even doing!!

Need For Speed: Underground 2

Switching the genre to Racing, we have NFS Underground 2. The holy grail of a game that pulled even actual racers to Playstations. The game introduced many new features, such as a broader customization, new methods of selecting races, the “explore” mode. The City Center was based on Philadelphia, Beacon Hill was based on Beverly Hills and Coal Harbor was based on Camden, New Jersey. Completing the map Bayview as a whole is a microcosm of the west coast of the United States. With tons of races and customization and Riders on the storm in your ear, your weekend was complete.

Crysis

ip Bx

Psycho, Alcatraz, Nomad, Prophet if these names don’t ring a bell, then mate you have missed out on a great FPS game of all time. Yes, we’re speaking of Crysis. Although we could have gone with Crysis 2 or Crysis 3, we chose the first one since it set a baseline for all the games to come with futuristic weapon combat. Released in November of 2007, the game earned a Metacentric score of 91 for PC platform, GameSpot awarded it with 9.5 out of 10 describing it as “Easily one of the greatest shooters ever made”.

The series revolves around a group of military protagonists with “nano suit”, technologically advanced suits of armor that allow them to gain enhanced physical strength, speed, defense, and cloaking abilities. To add to it, the game had graphics that were way too ahead of its time. The protagonists face off against hostile North Korean soldiers, heavily armed mercenaries, and a race of technologically advanced aliens known as the Ceph, who arrived on Earth millions of years ago for unclear reasons and have recently been awakened.

It’s a quite old game, but nevertheless, one hell of a story and gameplay which pushes this game to our Top 5 must play games.

Summary

Well, that was our list. If you feel like we missed out on something (of course we did), do let us know in the comments section. See you guys in the next one!!

  1. It had become pretty common for games to have multiple ending in the 2009-2010..but the road to that showed Prince of Persia warrior within.

It was a great game which had numerous puzzle elementa along with a great numner of side puzzles to give you extra health and/or sword which would eventually decide your final fate in the game.

Although it had only 2 alternate endings but the idea was groundbreaking..

    • Hi soumya, one of the toughest POPs i played was Warrior Within, never got to complete it (feelsbadman). I’m working on a series of Top 5 games article, because i feel I didn’t do justice to many other great classics as pointed out by the community members. Will be sure to include many more games, stick around to find your favourite make it to the list. Thanks for the suggestions.

  2. Great list!! So many irreplaceable memories! Would like to add Portal/Portal2 as mind blowing classics of the PCMR. NFS Most Wanted! Got in trouble so many times for hiding and playing that at night as a kid! Farcry 2, one of the most intense story lines and shooters one could experience in a game that really captured the feeling of being caught in an African civil war. Burnout Paradise with grass so green and girls so pretty! Amazing memories! Batman Arkham Asylum deserves recognition too, it was refreshing and intense. Mass Effect 2, a game so good I read several books about the Mass Effect universe after playing it!

I’m sure there are many more that aren’t coming immediately to mind! Cheers!

    • Hi abheek, I’ve been there too, been caught playing at night and hiding. There were so many games that we could add to the list but yes but chose to go only with 5 of them at the moment. Working on a 10 part series of Top 5 games considering the mixed feedback and missing out many games; showcasing 5 games each month. Thank You for the suggestions, Will include many more in the next Top games article.

  4. I won’t agree until u add GTA 5! It’s really top selling game from 2013 to still! None of games u mentioned are still in top list and they never were on the list for this long period. San Andreas was also nice game though

    • Hi shubham, I agree with u on GTA V being still on top sales chart. We had considered GTA V for the list, but the benchmark set by GTA San Andreas overshadows GTA V anyday for Open World games. And since sales wasn’t a category of considering the best games at the time of writing this article, we couldn’t add it to the list. But yes, we’re open to suggestions, and also working on a series of Top 5 games where we’ll include other classics as pointed out by the fellow gamers.

  9. Dude these are the games which were fairly popular and lasted long but if you want to make a list you should have definitely added Metal gear solid V:TPP and witcher 3 and the skyrim elder scrolls V. And ofcourse far cry 3. Your list seems way out of the mainstream gaming.

  10. Couldn’t agree more with GTA San Andreas and cs 1.6 in this list . However,
I’m sorry but black flag is not even the best assassin’s Creed game.. let alone top 5 for past 2 decades.
AC 2 or AC : brotherhood were better.
Also NFS most wanted was better than underground 2 but no NFS game is good enough to be in top 5
Similarly crisis is only remembered for its graphics.. but call of duty and battlefield set that bar for the modern FPS genre

Here are a few games.. that deserve that spot taken up by AC black flag,Crysis and NFS :
-The Elder scrolls V : Skyrim ( my personal favorite game of all time.)
    -Mass effect 2
    -portal
    -portal 2
    -minecraft
-league of legends/DotA 2 (both are equally awesome in their own right)
-half life / half life 2
    -unreal tournament 2004
    -Age of empires III
    -world of Warcraft
-fortnite/PUBG (they are extremely popular even though some of you hate them)

1.Dishonored DLC Knife of dunwall and Brigmore Witches.
    2. Dishonored 2

  19. LOL! After reading the comments section, I understand that people will have their own list of top 5 games and I don’t mind that. And the author says he is working on a future series of these top 5 games so he’ll get to your specific title in a while. So calm your tits down guys.

That being said, I think Assassin’s Creed ll has to be on the list at some point simply because the fact that it was the title that actually utilized the potential shown in the first game to the max. Everything from the story, to the dialogues, to the title track, was spot on.
So yeah, AC2 makes it to the top of my list! Where is it in yours?

    Reply
  20. Your effort is appreciated since presumably it is your opinion. But still, when you title an article “5 Best PC Games of All Time Every Gamer Must Try Once”, the titles must actually be some of the greatest and revolutionary ones, and legendary even. Please do no feel offended or think that my comment is a inflammatory jibe.
For example, you’ve considered Crysis in your list when there are at least 5-8 games (Half-Life 2, Bioshock, Portal 2, Call of Duty 1, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, No One Lives Forever) better than it in terms of game play, story, immersion, combat mechanics and the likes. And Half-Life 2 is the best first person shooter of all time, bar none. Again GTA San Andreas is a fine choice in its own right, even though many people consider Vice City as better. The best Assassin’s Creed game to this day is Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. Period. And since these games come under the category of Action-Adventures, leaving out Batman Arkham Asylum is strange. Counter Strike is a fine choice too.
Then again, this list is invalidated by the glaring omissions of legendary games from the Role Playing, Real-Time or the Adventure genres. Games like Baldur’s Gate II, Company of Heroes, Civilization IV, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Warcraft III, Minecraft, Rome: Total War, Deus Ex, The Stanley Parable, The Longest Journey (I recommend anyone reading this to play this game at least once) and many such others. I don’t consider racing games to be i the same league as these so as to be considered among all-time great games. But different strokes for different folks, I agree.
