What is ‘Skype For Web’ and how it works ?

Microsoft has made Skype available on computers, mobile phones, TVs and even games consoles. But now, not only can Skype be used on just about any screen you lay your hands on, but you can also enjoy Skype on a browser.

You can use every basic function and services of skype application on Skype.com. Skype for web is powered by the Web Real-Time Communication (WebRTC), which is now supported by almost every modern browser without need of any plugin.

According to skype blog (as written on official blog by Jonathan Watson )

Skype for Web makes it quicker and easier than ever before to connect with friends, family and colleagues around the world, for free – directly from Skype.com. It’s perfect if you prefer using the web rather than an app: perhaps you’re sitting at a computer that doesn’t already have Skype downloaded. Or maybe you’re on the go and using an internet café or hotel computer whilst on vacation where you can’t download Skype at all. Using Skype for Web makes it more convenient to get to your conversations.

As we have mentioned above the service is still in beta version and it is not fully available yet. Skype for Web will be offered to some selected people to test and it will be publicly available in upcoming weeks/months.
